The following is an email interview with Infestvvs of Glorior Belli. Glorior Belli embarks on their first North American Tour with Absu, Averse Sefira, and Sothis beginning June 2009 (see tour dates after interview). They have nine songs available on thier MySpace page.

WSWB- Please tell me a little about how Glorior Belli began, the history in brief, for those who may not be familiar with your history. How did it start, how long have you been putting out music, what has been the vision/ideology behind this band?

Infestvvs- Glorior Belli came out from the dark in December 2002 with Antares (drums) & I (vocals, bass, guitars). The line up has been changing a lot ever since and nowadays it’s just Alastor, who joined the band in early 2007 (guitar) & me. I provide the fire for Glorior Belli so it’s safe to say that the band wouldn’t be the same if I wasn’t there but I’m pretty sure it would also be different without those aforementioned members. This is all about balance... as in a symbiotic relationship, they need me as much as I need them, they’ve been chosen for a reason and on some levels we all share the black fires of illumination. Anyway, Our goal is still the same even though now we can give it a proper definition : To inspire Gnosis for all those who are worthy so that they too may injure Yahweh's prerogative. Our philosophy, our beliefs have become stronger. The music itself has become more personal, going over the limits of the genre. It’s been « only » 6 years but it seems to me like we’ve been doing this for almost twice that time! Good or bad, all experiences have been necessary for the process of growing powerful & wise. Glorior Belli is more than ever fulfilling my visions, meeting my expectations & affirming its personality toward the genre. Now we have inked a deal with Candlelight Records for both Europe & North-America so it’s time for us to finally spread the fires of truth & to gather hordes of the dark light across the old continent.

WSWB- I am looking forward to your North American Tour with Absu, Averse Sefira, and Sothis which is beginning in June 2009, can you tell me a bit about how you came to be included in that tour?

Infestvvs- I’ve been in touch with Paula Hogan from Candlelight’s US office since we signed there and at some point she asked me if we’d be ready to go on tour sooner than expected... You see, we were not supposed to be officially part of their roster until the new album gets released but Glorior Belli was definitely a good option and Paula’s sharp mind knew it! She’s a very supportive and dedicated person. Back when our second album “Manifesting…” was released by SouthernLord we didn’t have the chance to defend it in the states by touring so June will be a good time for revenge.

WSWB- I know you have had a few line up changes in the past, what is the current band line up, and who can we expect to see on the stage in June as you tour North America?

Infestvvs- Lots and lots of changes over the years! We hired two guys from Iowa especially for the tour, a bass player (Visigoth) and a drummer (Mortaeus). Alastor and I will handle the guitar duties and vocals. As for the official line up here in Paris, it’s just the two of us currently. We’re looking for a new drummer now that Antares is gone but there’s no hurry and I guess we’ll wait to be back from the States to really look into this.

WSWB- Your myspace profile says that you're currently in the process of recording a new album, what ca
n you tell us about the musical direction this album is taking?

Infestvvs- Actually we just came back from the studio and 2 new tracks have been uploaded on our myspace. I can tell you that this record will reserve a few surprises, as it hasn’t reveal its full potential yet. There isn’t really 1 representative track for the whole effort so it’s best to listen to it entirely and with a non-myspace sound. We worked really hard on this new record and though it might not be as catchy as “Manifesting…” was, the songs won’t be easily forget if you know what I mean: It’s less of a “block” and they all have their own personalities and very different beats/tempos. Some tracks even have 6 guitar layers and nothing was left behind. A few months ago, I made an announcement about Obscurus Advocam, a side project that we had together with Antares. Taking the decision to put it to an end after the first and only full-length, as the composition line between both bands was becoming too thin, allowing myself to include all those influences into Glorior Belli and to tell the truth this was an awesome step forward! What was once puzzled is now back in one piece and the result is a strong album: “Meet Us At The Southern Sign”.

WSWB- Will the new album be released before you start the 2009 tour? Will we be hearing it on the tour, or will you be bringing a range of material from over the years to the stage?

Infestvvs- Hopefully yes, it should be released by the time we go on tour in early June. The playlist is a good mix of the 3 albums so you’ll hear some new tracks for sure as well as our good old songs! That’s all I can tell.

WSWB- You've changed labels since your last album, how has working with Candlelight Records been so fa r?

Infestvvs- They’re great people, doing a very good job and it’s obvious that we’re not their biggest band but still they care about Glorior Belli big time and provided so far all the help we needed. Let’s hope this collaboration will go on in the same terms for a long, long while! So far it’s the best label we’ve ever signed with, no doubts about it.

WSWB- Any thoughts on putting the album up for download at myspace? Where can fans acquire a copy?

Infestvvs- The whole album? Well… A few teasing tracks, sure but the whole thing is another story! We’ll see about that, but I want people to get the album from stores, as we put a lot of efforts in the layout as well and no matter what, you’ll never get a really good streaming sound. With Candlelight doing the distribution, it’s pretty safe to say you’ll find it almost “everywhere”.
